These are stiff, white sheets of plastic mesh made from PE plastic. The grid gives you even, open squares for needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery and other hand crafts. Because the material is plastic, the mesh holds its shape while you work and will not soften or sag the way fabric can. The 14 count grid means there are 14 squares per inch, a common count for needlepoint and counted thread work.
Each sheet is plain white, so your threads and yarns stay the focus of the project. The surface takes pencil and marker marks for planning, and the open squares make it easy to count rows as you go.
Every sheet in every pack is the same size.
| Sheet size | Count |
|---|---|
| 8.26 x 11 in (21 x 28 cm) | 14 count |
| Pack | Sheets included |
|---|---|
| 1 sheet | 1 |
| 2 sheets | 2 |
| 4 sheets | 4 |
A single sheet suits a small project or a test piece. The 2 sheet pack gives you a spare for a second colorway or a matching pair of small designs. The 4 sheet pack works well when you want to cut several shapes from the same stock or keep a few sheets on hand for future projects.
All sheets are white. The neutral surface works with any thread or yarn color, from soft pastels to deep jewel tones. White also makes it simple to see your stitches and count the grid, even in low light.
Cut the sheet to the size you need with sharp scissors or craft snips. Cut along the lines between squares so the edges stay even. If you are making a shaped piece, sketch the outline on the sheet first, then cut one row outside your line and trim back as needed.
For needlepoint, thread a blunt tapestry needle with yarn or thread and work over the bars of the mesh. A 14 count grid pairs well with worsted weight yarn and with several strands of embroidery floss. Count your stitches as you go, since the grid is your guide.
Plastic canvas is a good choice for projects that need to hold a shape, such as ornaments, coasters, small boxes, bookmarks and standing figures. It also works for practice pieces before you commit to a larger fabric project. If you plan to join two pieces, whipstitch the edges together with the same yarn you used on the surface.
Keep unused sheets flat. A folder, a large envelope or a shallow box will protect them from bends and creases. Store them away from direct heat, which can soften the plastic over time.
Finished pieces can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and left to air dry. Do not put plastic canvas in a washing machine or dryer, and do not iron it. If a sheet arrives slightly bowed, lay it flat under a book for a day or two and it will settle.
The 14 count grid is a middle ground: fine enough for detail, open enough to see your stitches clearly. If you are used to working on 10 or 12 count canvas, this grid will feel a little smaller. If you usually work on 18 count, it will feel a bit more open. Either way, the squares are easy to count, which keeps your pattern on track.
Each sheet measures 8.26 x 11 in (21 x 28 cm). Every sheet in the 1, 2 and 4 sheet packs is the same size.
It means there are 14 squares per inch. That count works well for needlepoint, cross stitch and other counted thread projects.
Yes. Use sharp scissors or craft snips and cut along the lines between squares. Cutting on the grid keeps the edges even.
They are made from PE plastic. The mesh is white and holds its shape while you stitch.
