Each design is a loose bouquet in a clear glass vase on a navy ground. The chamomile version mixes white daisies with yellow centers, hanging strings of red currants and fine green stems. The wheat bouquet pairs golden ears of wheat with one large pink bloom and sprigs of small pink flowers. The cotton bouquet sets soft white cotton bolls against blueberries, wheat and green leaves. All three finish at the same size, so they hang well as a row of three.
The kit is worked in full cross stitch on 14-count navy Aida and finishes at 9.8 x 11.4 in (25 x 29 cm). Nothing is printed on the fabric: you count each stitch from the symbol chart. The dark ground hides the holes a little more than white fabric does, so stitch in good light. The glass vase is charted in pale blues and whites, which makes it the most delicate part of the picture.
The chart is about 138 by 160 stitches and the bouquet covers around two fifths of it, close to 9,000 crosses. At a typical 100 to 150 stitches an hour, that is about 60 to 90 hours. The navy background stays unstitched, which makes this one of the quicker counted kits we carry.
Stitch the vase last. Its pale blues and whites sit right against the dark ground, and they look cleanest once the flowers and stems around them are in place. On the white petals, cross every stitch the same way, top thread always leaning in one direction, so the daisies keep an even sheen.
A hoop, scissors and a frame are not included. The fabric is folded in the pack, so press out the creases from the back before you start. An 11 x 14 in (28 x 36 cm) frame with a mat suits the finished piece.
Delivery is $6.95, and free on orders from $49. The delivery estimate for your address shows on this page and at checkout. You can return the kit within 30 days of delivery; return shipping is yours unless it arrives faulty or wrong. See delivery and returns for the details, or compare the other cross stitch kits.
Chamomile is the brightest against the navy, with white daisies and red currants. The wheat bouquet is warmer and golden, and the cotton bouquet is the softest, with white bolls and blueberries. All three take about the same time.
It is a step up from white fabric because the holes are less visible. A daylight lamp, or a pale towel across your lap, makes the grid easy to read again.
About 60 to 90 hours for close to 9,000 stitches at 100 to 150 stitches an hour. You can stop and start whenever you like.
