This is a counted cross stitch kit built around a multicolor floral square. You count stitches on the Aida cloth grid and build the design square by square. The kit suits makers who have stitched before and want a project with a bit of detail.
Everything you need to start is in the box: Aida cloth, cotton floss, needles and a pattern. The cloth and the thread are both cotton. The finished piece is a floral square, and the pattern is yours to keep and stitch again in another colorway if you like.
Skill level: some experience. If you have finished a small project before, you are ready for this one. The pattern is charted, so you follow the grid and match each symbol to a floss color.
Pick two things before you add the kit to your cart: the fabric count and the colorway.
| Fabric count | Cloth |
|---|---|
| 14 count | White Aida |
| 18 count | White Aida |
14 count Aida gives larger squares, so the stitches are easier to see and count. 18 count Aida gives smaller, denser stitches and a finer finished look. Both are white, so the floral colors stay bright against the cloth.
Colorways:
Each colorway uses the same cotton floss and the same counted cross stitch method. The difference is the palette and the motif.
Start by finding the center of the Aida cloth and the center mark on the pattern. Count outward from the center so the design sits evenly on the cloth. Work one color at a time, or work in blocks, whichever keeps your place better.
Cut floss to a comfortable length. Long strands wear down as they pass through the cloth, so shorter lengths keep the stitches neat. Use a needle from the kit and stitch over one square of the Aida grid at a time.
If you choose 18 count, expect more stitches in the same space and a longer stitching time. If you choose 14 count, the project moves faster and the squares are easier to count. Either way, the pattern is the same design.
When the stitching is done, press the cloth face down on a towel. A warm iron on the back side smooths the fabric without flattening the stitches.
Hand wash cold, then dry flat. Do not wring or twist the cloth. Lay it flat on a towel and let it air dry, then press it face down when it is fully dry.
The kit keeps things simple: cotton cloth, cotton thread, needles and a pattern, with no frame to sort out. You choose the fabric count and the colorway, and the rest is counted cross stitch. It is a good fit for a maker who wants a floral square to stitch at home and keep or give away.
It is listed for some experience, so it suits makers who have stitched a small project before. If you are brand new, start with 14 count white Aida, which has larger squares that are easier to count.
You get cotton Aida cloth, cotton floss, needles and a pattern. No frame is included, so you can stitch in hand or use a hoop or frame you already own.
14 count has larger squares, so the stitches are easier to see and the project moves faster. 18 count has smaller squares, which gives a finer, denser finished look and takes more stitching time.
Hand wash cold and dry flat. Do not wring or twist the cloth. Press it face down on a towel once it is fully dry.
