Black Aida, 100% cotton, with cotton floss. Hand wash the finished piece in cool water, roll it in a towel and press it face down on a soft cloth.

Each panel follows one flower from the base of the stem to the top of the frame. The iris opens in soft blues, lilacs and cream; the daffodil climbs in white and yellow trumpets; the pink orchid stacks rosy blooms up a tall spike; and the peach orchid runs in warm apricot and cream. A thin gold geometric border edges every panel, and the black Aida is left as the background, so the flowers look almost painted on.
The panels are worked in full cross stitch on black Aida. On 14-count a panel finishes at 9 x 42.5 in (23 x 108 cm); on 18-count it finishes at 7 x 33.9 in (18 x 86 cm). Same chart, same stitches, just a finer weave. The 18-count version is easier to frame and to fit on a wall, and the 14-count is easier to see while you stitch.
Black fabric shows color beautifully but hides its holes, so plan to stitch with a daylight lamp. A scroll frame suits the long panel better than a hoop, because you can roll the finished part out of the way.
The chart is about 127 stitches wide and 600 tall, and roughly a third of it is stitched: around 26,000 crosses. At a typical 100 to 150 stitches an hour, that is about 175 to 265 hours. It is a long project, best enjoyed a petal at a time over several months.
Stitch the gold border along one long side first. It gives you a fixed line to count each leaf and petal from, and a counting slip shows up straight away instead of a hundred rows later.
A scroll frame or hoop, scissors and a frame for the finished panel are not included. The fabric arrives folded, so press out the creases from the back before you begin.
Delivery is $6.95, and free on orders from $49. The delivery estimate for your address shows on this page and at checkout. You can return the kit within 30 days of delivery; return shipping is yours unless it arrives faulty or wrong. See delivery and returns for the details, or compare the other cross stitch kits.
On 14-count it is 9 x 42.5 in (23 x 108 cm), and on 18-count 7 x 33.9 in (18 x 86 cm). Measure the wall first: the panel is tall and narrow, like a door panel or a hallway print.
Yes. Each flower is its own kit with the same border and size, so two or four panels hang together as a matching row.
About 175 to 265 hours for around 26,000 stitches at 100 to 150 stitches an hour. It is a months-long project that rewards steady evenings.
