Van Gogh Shimmer Diamond Art Kit with AB and Fairy Dust Drills

About the paintings

Each kit is one painting, chosen in the Design menu. All fourteen are landscape canvases, and every one of them is full of the swirling brushwork that turns into pure sparkle in drills.

• Starry Night: the swirling night sky over a sleeping village, with a dark cypress in front.
• Starry Rhone: gas lamps reflected in the river at night under a sky full of stars.
• Seascape and Fishing boats: green waves with sailboats at sea, and bright boats pulled up on the sand.
• Orchard bloom and White roses: an orchard of white blossoming trees, and a vase of white roses on soft green.
• Wheat and cypress, Wheatfield crows and Mulberry tree: golden wheat under a tall cypress, crows over a stormy wheatfield, and a blazing autumn mulberry.
• Olive grove, Olive sunset, Olive orchard and Olive hills: four takes on the olive groves, from silver green to dark trees on orange earth under a yellow sky, and olive trees below blue mountains.
• Plane trees: tall pale plane trees lining a town road.

AB drills, fairy dust and velvet canvas

AB drills carry an iridescent coating that flashes blue, pink and gold as the light moves, and fairy dust drills add a frosted glitter. Mixed into the regular drills, they make Van Gogh's skies and water shimmer the way the brushwork does. The canvas has a soft velvet surface around the design, which looks matte and neat once framed.

Round drills catch the light from every side and forgive a slightly crooked placement, so they are the easy choice for a first canvas. Square drills sit edge to edge with no gaps, which gives a smoother, more painted look, but each one needs to line up with its neighbors. The canvas size and the picture are the same either way.

Sizes and how long it takes

• 12 x 16 in (30 x 40 cm): about 10 to 18 hours, a good first project.
• 16 x 20 in (40 x 50 cm): about 18 to 32 hours.
• 18 x 24 in (45 x 60 cm): about 25 to 45 hours.
• 20 x 28 in (50 x 70 cm): about 35 to 60 hours, and the most detail in the brushstrokes.

We base these on the canvas area and a relaxed pace of 800 to 1,500 drills an hour. A first canvas usually takes a little longer, and you can stop for days as long as the film covers the unfinished part.

Frames are not included. A bigger canvas shows more of the painting's texture, so if you have the wall for it, 18 x 24 in or 20 x 28 in does the swirling skies the most justice.
